CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR FINE JEWELLERY
Cleaning your ring and other precious pieces.
Cleaning your precious jewellery enhances the look. Diamonds in particular attract grease and will quickly become dull in appearance when you apply hand moisturisers or sunscreen. Cleaning each day will make your diamond look sparkly, bright and full of life. We recommend soaking your ring in warm water and mild dishwashing liquid, and brushing it gently with a soft baby’s toothbrush. Under the settings can get particularly dirty. This only takes a couple of minutes and will keep your diamonds looking gorgeous!
We recommend bringing in your ring for a complimentary professional ultrasonic clean at least once every 12 months. Some stones with low hardness will be cleaned by hand rather than using ultrasonic cleaners to protect them.
To protect your ring from chemicals, its best to take off your ring when you wash dishes, scrub the bathroom, or perform other tasks that require harsh chemicals or abrasive solutions often found in household cleaners.
Don’t put your ring through needless wear and tear. A diamond is one of the world’s hardest natural materials, 10 on MOH's scale, but that doesn’t mean a diamond cannot chip. Be sure not to knock it against other hard materials. We always recommend taking off your ring off when you are playing sport, gardening, or going to the gym which could potentially damage it. Particular care must be taken with the following stones: Emeralds, Opal, Pearls, and Tanzanite. These stones are not as hard as diamond, sapphire, alexandrite and spinel, and they can chip or scratch much more easily. Excessive heat and sudden temperature changes may also fracture the above gems.
Ring maintenance timeworn claws and clasps can result in the loss of a stone or an entire piece of jewellery. If you notice any signs of damages or loosening/lifting of the claws on your jewellery please bring it straight back to us and we can consult on the correct action to take. We encourage our customers to bring in their jewellery to us occasionally for a complimentary inspection and professional clean.
Keep your diamond away from other jewels. Diamonds being the hardest substance on earth, can scratch other gemstones and metal bands if left to jostle around in the same jewellery pouch or box. For that reason, keep your jewellery, especially diamonds in an individual box or pouch when you’re not wearing them.
